Think Local Act Personal: United Response shares best practice at North West event

The national disability charity, United Response, will be sharing examples of best practice and new thinking on personalisation at a conference in Manchester on Friday (28th September).

Organised by the North West Think Local Act Personal programme, the event is an opportunity for social care providers and health and social care commissioners to discuss the latest policy developments and to share knowledge on effective ways of delivering personalisation.

United Response’s lead on personalisation, Ben Harrison, will be speaking at the event, along with his colleague Mark Dyer. The pair will share United Response’s learning on personalisation, as well as innovative plans that the organisation has to help people to become more in charge of their support in the future. The session will include discussion on the following:

• United Response’s new menu of personalised support products; including support planning, support with staff recruitment, and management support.
• Initial learning from the Enduring Circles of Support project. This United Response project focuses on the use of circles as a way to ensure that decision making is kept close to the person. At the same time it promotes the building of community links, and looks at the difference that being part of a wider community can make to the individual and to those supporting them.
• United Response’s plans for their new housing brokerage service, which will allow people to understand their housing choices and find the right housing, should they so wish.
• United Response’s learning about the emerging online support market and what this means for providers, people who use services and those close to them.

The North West Think Local Act Personal Programme is a partnership between In Control, ADASS NW, United Response and Alternative Futures Group. The programme has been developed to support work across adult social care and health in implementing personalised approaches.
