Welcome…
…to the second issue of In Touch – the magazine for family, friends and supporters of United Response.
Thank you for all your feedback on the first issue – responses have been very positive indeed and it's clear that there's a real appetite for more information on what we're doing across the country, and about what's happening in the social care world.
You said that you'd like more information on where we work and what we do, and about developments in the wider world, including new legislation.
So over the next few issues we'll be focusing on some of the things you said you wanted to know more about, starting this month with a look at individual budgets – what they are and how to get one; the Health Bill, Welfare Reform Bill and Autism Bill – what they contain and how to help influence them; inclusion – how our in-house inclusion team helps staff to support and communicate with people with a wide range of needs; an introduction to the Care Quality Commission, the new regulatory body for health and social care; and a new jargon buster, which aims to make this very jargon-heavy world a little easier to navigate!
Lots of you also said you'd like to get more involved in what we do – and that's great news! To help you to do just that, we are setting up a new families' panel to give you the opportunity to feedback on some of the things we are doing – and so that we can make sure that we are getting it right for you!
Finally, do keep your feedback coming and let us know if there's other information that you'd like to see included in the next issue of In Touch.
Best wishes
Su Sayer OBE Chief Executive, United Response
