Corporate plan for 2009-12

Corporate plan for 2009-12United Response has just published our new corporate plan for 2009-12.

The plan is informed by feedback from right across the organisation, including direct feedback from the people we support on what’s working and not working in their lives. Agreed by United Response’s trustee board, it sets out our broad direction and vision for the next three years.

Our key aim in our corporate plan is to help people to have more control over their lives by developing and enhancing our person-centred support approach. This includes:

Community

People we support have great potential to contribute to and be part of the communities in which they live. We will support people to be valued for this contribution, rather than merely known for their presence as people with "special needs".

Personalisation

We support the development of personal budgets which enable people to have a greater degree of control over their lives and in how they are supported. We want to play a major role in responding to the wishes of people for assistance to lead their lives in the ways they choose.

Equality and diversity

As citizens and employees, we are all different from each other and these differences are valuable and important. We want to ensure that the people we support and staff colleagues are respected for their individuality and that they do not face discrimination because of their race, gender, age, religion, disability or sexual orientation.

Impact in the external world

Many people we support experience difficulties in their lives, some of which need sustained and collective effort to resolve. We want to work together with them, commissioners and other partners (including families, voluntary organisations, government and policy makers) to bring about positive social change and to make a real difference to the quality of life of the people we support.

We have produced an accessible version of the corporate plan for the people we support – if you would like a copy of this or the full plan, please contact Lu Large
