Su Sayer takes part in Three Sector Summit
Chief Executive of United Response, Su Sayer OBE took part in a roundtable debate on the role of the voluntary sector in public service delivery, at the national Three Sector Summit.
Many members of the government spoke at the event, including Prime Minister Tony Blair.
During his key note speech, the Prime Minister announced a review of current commissioning and procurement processes. And he also made a commitment to reduce the barriers to voluntary and private sector involvement in public service delivery.
Organised by the Future Services Network (FSN), the event included discussions on topics such as partnerships to deliver better public services, the third sector action plan and local government and public sector reform.
Speaking about the summit, Su Sayer said:
“It was hugely encouraging to hear how committed the Government is to delivering user led services.
“Now we need to see that commitment reflected in the way local services are commissioned and I hope we will see small and larger organisations sharing skills and expertise to provide a range of services in a cost effective way. “

The Future Services Network was formally launched in April 2006. It recognises that public services will increasingly be delivered by a range of providers from across the private, public and voluntary sectors. Its aim is to create a powerful network for change to shape the future of public service delivery.
