Press Release

Boundless - Connecting Artists

14th July 2008

Bankside Gallery, 21st July to 27th July 2008

Artists with learning disabilities will be exhibiting in a central London gallery this summer.

Boundless - Connecting Artists is a unique group exhibition featuring artists from all over England, some of whom have learning disabilities, learning difficulties, mental health needs, or conditions such as Aspergers Syndrome and dyslexia.

It features an eclectic range of work, including photography, abstract and figurative painting, drawing, digital art and cartoons, much of it by people who have led lives far removed from the mainstream of society. Boundless was conceived to introduce the work of artists such as these to the wider artistic community, by exhibiting them in a prominent London gallery, alongside non-disabled artists.

Boundless has already attracted widespread press interest, including a feature in Art of England magazine’s August issue, while several regional newspapers are profiling locally-based exhibiting artists. Additionally, Boundless is previewed online by The Guardian from July 7th: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/society+content/gallery

Boundless is being supported by four leading learning disability agencies, Choice Support, United Response, Regard Partnership and the Skillnet Group.

A small number of press passes are available for a private reception on July 23rd, from 6pm to 8pm, which will be hosted by United Response President and broadcaster Martyn Lewis, with an address by Jeremy Hunt MP, Shadow Culture Secretary.
