We ran a competition to find the best Christmas Cake recipe.

Three women have won a free lunch at Krumbs Café.
Krumbs café is run by United Response. People with learning disabilities work there.

Marjorie Layfield is one of the winners. She says:
"I wanted to enter the competition to give Krumbs students a bit of encouragement. I think the café is a great idea and I really hope they raise the money they need. Helping people with learning disabilities to become more confident is really important.

"It's a very easy Christmas cake to make. The fruit never sinks to the bottom and it always comes out a nice golden colour."

Barbara Pettitt is a winner. She says:
"It’s brilliant news. I'm really pleased that everyone at Krumbs liked my recipe. Going to the café in the New Year will be a real treat."

Diane Lightfoot from United Response says:

"We would like to thank everyone who sent in their favourite recipes and congratulate the three winners. We received some great entries. There are obviously some very talented chefs in York!"
