The government has decided not to publish the new Bill.

Paul Farmer from the Mental Health Alliance said:

"The Mental Health Alliance is worried about some of the things the government has changed.

"We think making decisions about people when you do not know them is bad.

"We think that people should have an independent advocate.

"We think that the decision to give people more say in their treatment is good.

"Our members and supporters will be pleased that the government has changed its mind about the bill.

"But we want to work with the government to get the new bill right.

"We need to make sure we respect civil rights and keep everyone safe."
