United Response has written a report.

United Response worked with the Tizard Centre at the University of Kent.
The report says that people with severe learning disabilities are more independent.
Bev Ashman, from United Response says:

"We wanted to see how our work is affecting the people we support.
"We looked at how we work in 2000. We found out that people needed us to change how we worked with them.

"We made some changes to the way we work with people. We created more opportunities for staff to develop and use person centred active support.
"We looked at how we are working again this year.
"The results are good. People with complex needs are doing more things."
Dr Julie Beadle Brown from the Tizard Centre says:

"This is the first time anyone has done this.
"The results are good. They will show other organisations what can be done to make a difference to people's lives."
