United Response held its fourth carol service in St Peters in Chelsea.
10th December 2007

United Response held its fourth carol service in St Peters in Chelsea.

We had the biggest audience we have ever had for a carol service.

The evening was hosted by the newsreader Martyn Lewis.

The Seaford College Choir sang carols throughout the evening.

The United Response Deaf Services Choir and Swanbank Music do something for us every year. This year they performed "Walking In A Winter Wonderland" with sign language.

An actress called Carmel Cryan read a comedy sketch by Joyce Grenfell.

The audience were people from the local parish, some poeple United Response supports, staff and supporters.

The charity Community Network worked so nearly 100 people who cannot leave the house could listen at home.

Martyn Lewis interviewed two people. They told people about United Response.

The first interview was with Alf Pearson. Alf used to live in an institution. Now he lives in a house in the community.

The second interview was with David Fry. David talked about making a film called "Can You Hear Us?".
Can You Hear Us? was written, acted and directed by people with learning disabilities.

Su Sayer from United Response said "The carol service is a highlight of our year, and this may have been the best yet."

She said, "It was wonderful to see the church so full, and the atmosphere was electric."
Su said "Enormous thanks go to everyone who worked so hard to make it a reality. Already we’ve had some wonderful feedback from people."
