United Response is trying out support using a telephone with a screen to support people. This is called telesupport.
This support can be used when people need it, just by touching a button. This will make it it easier to get some kinds of support.
United Response is working with a company called Aupix. They have made the screen and telephone more accessible for people with learning disabilities or mental health needs.
Some people have tried the screen and telephone. They liked it.
Some people are now using it. It is good for people who do not talk.
Some people with mental health needs who hear voices like to use it.
People will still have support. But this is another type of support.
Su Sayer from United Response said:
We like creative ways to support people. We think we are the only organisation using the screen and telephone.
John Dixon from West Sussex County Council said:
We can see how people think this is a good way to be supported. We are keen to try out new things.
Anne Davey, a service manager from United Response said:
This is really exciting. I am looking forward to using the screen and phone with more people.
I have used it with someone who has a speech difficulty. Because we can see each other, it makes it easier for both of us.
He can use gestures and I can see what he is telling me.
