United Response is celebrating World Mental Health Day on October 10th.

World Mental Health Day is on 10th October.

Lots of different charities in West Sussex will be celebrating the day.

They want to tell people how they can look after their own mental health.

They also want to talk about how people’s mental health is affected by changes in the world.

Some of the events will be:

Sunday 7th October: 11am - 1.30pm
Sunday Celebration with 'Sticky Jam', Sainsburys, Chichester
'Sticky Jam' will entertain shoppers at this information and fundraising event. All money collected will go to local self help groups.

Wednesday 10th October:11am- 3pm
World Mental Health Day Information Event, Hotham Arts Centre, The Esplanade, Bognor
You can go and celebrate. You can also try out some complementary therapy for yourself. Local groups will be there to give information about local services.

The local groups include United Response, Mind, Samaritans, the Friendship Group, CAPITAL, the Consumer Group and Sussex Police will also be on hand to offer advice and information about local services.

Thursday 11th October 11am - 2pm:
Information and crafts, Parklands Motors, North Street, Midhurst.
You can find out about local mental health services and buy some local crafts.

People will be wearing gold and black ribbons. The money it costs to buy one will go to local mental health groups.

Carole McHugh from United Response said: "This is the fifteenth year that people around the world have come together to celebrate World Mental Health Day. It's very exciting."

"It's good to see people know more about how important it is to look after their mental health.

"But, some people still do not understand enough about mental health problems. We hope this week will mean more people can find out more about their local services. 1 in 4 adults has a mental health problem. So we want this week of events to be for everyone."
