Pat started working there as a cleaner on a placement.
The Trafford Supported Employment Service supported Pat into the role. She was so good at it, she was promoted.

Pat now also works one day a week as a social therapy activities assistant.

Pat got this job as well because she is good with people.
Her new role means that she helps people to do things they enjoy. These might be musical therapy, massage or gardening.
Other things people like to do are using public transport to shop, have a meal in a café or leisure activities like bowling.
Pat says “I love it, I really enjoy spending time with the residents and it’s better than cleaning!”
Pat helps residents to make sure they get the most out of their lives.

Many people with learning disabilities used to find it very difficult to get paid work. .
Some employers are worried about employing someone with a learning disability.
