Supported employment in Trafford

United Response has a supported employment service in Trafford, Greater Manchester.

The service supports people with learning disabilities who want to work.

It can help people in Trafford to gain work experience or find employment.

The people we work with are referred to us by Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council.

Those people will come from the Community Learning Disability Team, the local Day Centres or by Disability Advisers from the local Job Centre Plus.

How we support people

We work with each person to find out what sort of work they are interested in and to create a work profile.

We work with parents, carers, local colleges and employers.

We support people to find work placements.

At the end of the placement, we help people to find permanent paid work.

This does not have to be full-time work. Some people only want to work part-time.

Other people may work for a few hours and then increase their hours once they are used to working.

We always think about any benefits they may be getting.

What we offer employers

We can work with employers to find the right person for the job!

We can help you find loyal reliable employees.

A Job Coach works with each person to find out what kind of work they would like to do.

That person is then matched to a suitable employer for a work placement.

As the person becomes more confident in their work, support is gradually reduced, until it is no longer necessary.

The person may then be ready for paid employment.

Both the employer and the worker have access to our continued support at any time.

* We work with local employers to help reduce unemployment rates
