Becoming an adult can make you want to be more independent. Sometimes this can be hard.

Becoming an adult can make you want to be more independent. Sometimes this can be hard.

We work with each person we support to make a person-centred plan to find out what people like and do not like.
We find out what people want to do and we change the plan as they change.

Choosing where to live
Some people move out from their parents or a residential school. We can help to find a place to live.

Some people might want to live in their own home with support. Some people might want to live with other people.

We can support people to find the right place to live. We can help people with doing things around the house. This could be paying bills or doing the cooking and laundry.

We use ‘Person-centred Active Support’ to make sure people can become more independent and have more choice.

When someone is in their new home, we can work with people to find out what they want to do in the community.

This could be going to college, being active or meeting friends at the cinema.

Getting a job
Having a job can make people feel confident. It can all also give people new friends.

We can help people to fill out application forms.

We can help people to use transport to get to their job or placement.

We think people have a right to work if they want to.
