How your money can help
Most of the money that we get comes from local authorities. This only covers people basic living costs, like food and rent. It doesn’t pay for the extra support we provide that really can transform people’s lives.
Almost half of the people we support cannot speak. One of the things that we raise money for is to buy equipment to help people communicate more effectively. Your support could help us to buy this.
For example:
- £20 could buy a talking watch to help someone who finds it difficult to tell the time
- £60 could buy a communication aid with twelve message buttons, each carrying up to 10 seconds of speech, sound or music. This would help someone with no speech to communicate simple messages
- £100 could buy a ‘big switch’. This would allow someone who may have just one body movement that they can control, to say yes or no - possibly for the first time in their life.
