Personalisation

The Government’s personalisation agenda aims to give people choice and control over the care and support they receive. Direct payments and personal budgets are a crucial part of this new approach – often called self-directed support – as they give people control over the money, allowing them to buy the services and equipment they need.

This means that once your support needs have been identified and your personal budget agreed, you can spend it in the way that you want, to live a full and independent life.

You can find out more about what the Government wants to achieve with personalisation on the Department of Health website. The charity In Control also has a lot of useful information about personalisation.

United Response and personalisation

A growing number of the people we work with and their families buy support from us using direct payments, personal budgets and/or the independent living fund.

We see this as an opportunity to develop genuine partnerships with people and their families, and to further our person-centred approach to providing support that really makes a difference. By working closely with local authorities, we want to give people – including those with complex needs – and their families more control of their care and support.

United Response has developed its own personalisation tools, such as accessible support contracts that set out how we work with people and our responsibilities, a special charter that explains how we work with families and our online guide to money and banking Making Money Easier.

We are committed to working alongside communities and supporting people to connect with, and make a contribution to, the society they live in.

United Response is always looking to improve its person-centred approach, so that we can help people make informed choices about the care and support they need. In this way, we hope to provide tailored support that helps people achieve real outcomes in their lives.
