Enduring mental health needs

We provide support for people with long-term or complex mental health needs.

We run residential services for people who have or have had difficulties with maintaining aspects of their mental health. We aim to provide accommodation and support to people so they can be part of their local community.

Residential services

We have residential services which are ordinary houses in the community. People can personalise their rooms which are their responsibility.

People can choose if they want to cook and eat on their own or with other people in the house. People are expected to contribute to the communal household chores and house meetings are held regularly. This gives people the opportunity to be involved in the development of the service.

Staff

Our residential services are staffed by skilled support workers. They are run by experienced managers. Staff work on a rota to provide 24-hour support. One person sleeps in at night.

These teams always have access to management for advice, support and assistance.

We place a strong emphasis on teamwork.

Supported living

Some people have used residential services as a stepping stone to living in the community with support in their own home.

We can support someone from a residential service into a supported living environment. This give someone more personal space and privacy and more control whilst still having access to 24-hour support

Our supported living services aim to work with people to develop the skills and confidence they need to live as part of the community.

If someone needs to have a period of hospitalisation, their accommodation and support will stay in expectation of their return. This would be reviewed by the management team in consultation with external professionals.

Each person is involved in defining what is important to them in terms of day to day living. We work with people to know what they want to develop longer term so that people can define their own lifestyles.

Active support plans are developed in ways that are meaningful for each person.

Person-centred support

We are committed to making sure that we are sensitive and respectful of people's rights, wishes and needs.

We make sure people have as much control over their own lives as possible. We listen to people so we can find opportunities.

We want to work with people so they can take more control and make informed choices about how they live and about their future.

Medical support

We support people to register with local healthcare services including their local GP and dentist. The local Community Mental Health team also provides support through its own Community Psychiatric Nurse and other consultants. We can support people with medical reviews and treatment.
