UR in the Picture

A man's face underwater

In 2005, disability charity United Response and photographic charity PhotoVoice, worked together on ‘Mental Wealth’, a ground-breaking project to raise awareness of some of the issues facing people with mental health needs.

Now ‘UR in the Picture’ has been conceived to build on this work and to formally explore the wider benefits of photography in terms of people’s confidence and self-esteem.

A full evaluation of the project and its benefits is currently being carried out by United Response and by independent researchers at the University of Bath.

Exhibition in London

‘UR in the Picture’ has resulted in the creation of an enormous body of work from 28 photographers with mental health needs. The results were showcased at a special exhibition running from 7th -11th July 2009 at the Bankside Gallery in London.
