United Response can support people to find volunteer placements that suit their tastes and abilities. Regardless of the level of disability, we believe a match can always be found.
Volunteer work can be beneficial for everybody involved. For the people we support it can improve fitness and self-confidence, as well as help them to meet new people and get involved in the community.
There are many volunteering opportunities out there, but when matching a person to a placement our staff’s knowledge of the individual is very important. We have to think carefully and often creatively to make the arrangement work, but we believe there’s something that will work for everyone.
We have secured placements in a wide variety of industries and settings from working outdoors with the National Trust, to helping out at the local nursery.
Below, Ali Bishop, business development manager, explains the benefits of volunteering and why anyone can do it.
