UR Consultants can provide a range of services to make things easier for everyone

Making information accessible

UR Consultants provides a service to companies and organisations to make documents “accessible” to people with a learning disability and people with limited literacy skills. We “translate” the information you give us and make it easier to understand and more accessible.

Why make things accessible?

Making things accessible can benefit all sorts of people, not just people with learning disabilities. Many more people have difficulty processing written information. The Basic Skills Agency estimates that up to 25% of UK Adults have low literacy skills.

The UK population is increasingly diverse and includes many thousands of people for whom English is not their first language.

If you make things accessible then the chances are it’s easier for everyone!

Consultancy and auditing

UR Consultants can give your organisation professional impartial advice on how to make your organisation more learning disability friendly.

We can carry out an audit of where you work to check out both physical accessibility (e.g. wheelchair access) and signage. We can also audit the information you provide about your company or in your work place.

Training

UR Consultants specialises in providing bespoke disability training.

Disability training is designed to give people the skills they need to work well with disabled people. This is particularly good for people in customer-facing roles. We will help people to recognise others as equal.

People with learning disabilities themselves lead the training. Feedback from previous participants has shown the huge value in receiving training direct from people themselves. This has helped to explore issues first hand, and clearly demonstrate the skills and talents people with learning disabilities can have. And the training helps to break down prejudice and stigma.
