Blog Community Network create a buzz around Christmas Yesterday Xanthe, our senior press officer, and I went along to the Community Network, our drop-in centre in Kent. The Community Network is open to everyone in the local area and used as a place to share interests, learn new skills, have some fun and make new friends. We were lucky enough to attend their weekly art club which was themed around our Christmas card competition, what are the chances! It was obvious to see that everyone was really enjoying themselves and it was infectious! They all made some lovely Christmas cards to enter into the Christmas card competition, from collages to colourful drawings of reindeer and penguins to sparkling community Christmas scenes like the one below. After everybody had made their own card the group then decided to make a collective card. They got out the paints and made a family of fingerprint snowmen and we can’t wait to see the finished design! It was great to see everyone coming together and not only having fun with art but enjoying each other’s company and getting to know one another. There is such a vibrant atmosphere at the Community Network, the community spirit is alive and well which shone through in the cards they made. It was brilliant being part of the action, meeting the team and everyone that came along. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back again! No matter how creative you think you are there is something to be said for giving it a try anyway! You never know, there might be a hidden Picasso or even a Banksy waiting to come out! So if you’re feeling the community vibe and want to join in on our design a Christmas card competition, check out how to enter and get arty this weekend! Entries must be received by Tuesday 30th September. Sarah Riddlestone, fundraising assistant.
