Blog London Marathon runners raise £43,000 This Sunday we had 23 absolute champions run the London Marathon on behalf of United Response. Our team of cheerers set up nice and early, and were soon joined by the droves of supporters. The sun was out and it started to heat up as our runners approached the starting line, excitement building as the race got underway. Record numbers Record numbers of over 40,000 took part this year and the atmosphere was positively buzzing with support. Our cheerers eagerly awaited our runners approach to give them an almighty roar. We had such an inspiring bunch taking part, many taking on their first marathon and fulfilling a lifetime ambition. We had 6 international runners from Australia and South Africa. Another of our runners, Anna, ran in memory of her Nan. We also had a duo, Nancy and Sam, taking on their first marathon. You can read more about their inspiring stories in our Media Centre. After the race our runners and their supporters made their way to our post-race reception at Dukes Hotel with runners cheered as they arrived. After a warming shower and well-deserved massage from our St Mary’s University volunteers, they were able to relax with family and friends, and tuck into some lunch. A big thank you We’d like to thank our wonderful team for all of their hard work, what an incredible achievement! Not only have they completed the London Marathon but they have collectively raised an amazing £43,000 so far. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them! We’d also like to thank Duke’s Hotel and St Mary’s University who kindly volunteered their time. Check out our photos from the day in our Facebook album. Want to join Team United Response in 2018?
