A local pantomime group, made up of people with learning disabilities and staff from the national disability charity, United Response, would like to invite you on an out of this world Christmas adventure, with their production of Snow White and the Seven Aliens.

In this twist on the modern classic, Snow White, a beautiful princess who lives in outerspace, decides to visit Earth, after reading about the sunny town of Brimington in her inter-galactic magazine. However, when an evil queen finds out that Snow White is in Derbyshire, she sets out to kill her. Seven heroic aliens are sent to do battle with the queen’s soldiers and to rescue Snow White, with the help of a handsome prince.

Snow White and the Seven Aliens, is the first production to be staged by the Spire Pantomime Group. Ro Jones, who works for United Response, and plays the evil queen, founded the group last year. She said:

“The whole idea came from people that United Response supports. Some of them came to see me in a pantomime and said they would like to have a go at something similar and so we decided to set up our own pantomime group. We held auditions and the 28-strong cast has now been rehearsing for well over a year. It’s all been a lot of fun and we hope as many people as possible will make it along to see the aliens save the day.”

Performances of Snow White and the Seven Aliens will be held at 1.30pm on Friday 9th and 7.30pm on Saturday 10th December at Poolsbrook Welfare and Social Club. Tickets cost £1 for adults and 50p for children and pensioners, and are available on the door. For further information, contact Ro Jones on 01246 284441.
