The Labour leader gets behind the Every Vote Counts campaign - and puts this in writing and on film.

Every Vote Counts, our campaign to make democratic information accessible ahead of the General Election, has the support of all five of the main UK political parties - the Conservatives, Greens, Labour, Liberals and UKIP – and United Response has been in touch with the offices of each of the party leaders to ask for a brief message of support.

We’re asking each leader whether more people with learning disabilities should take part in the democratic process, as well as what their party is doing to help disabled people.

Messages from Ed Miliband

Mr Miliband took time on the campaign trail to write a letter of support to United Response’s political correspondent, David Allkins.

The Labour Leader said: “I’m a big supporter of the Every Vote Counts campaign by United Response.” He went on to thank David Allkins personally for raising awareness about people with learning disabilities taking part in the democratic process.

Ed Miliband also sent a video message about the Labour Party’s disability manifesto, where he outlined the party’s policies in this area.

Mr Miliband said: “I want us, in opposition and into government, to hear the voices of disabled people in what we do and the decisions we make.
