Last Thursday, we exhibited at the Learning Disability Today event in Sheffield, meeting people from the local area, as well as many that had travelled long distances to attend.

United Response staff manned the stand, answering questions and providing advice for visitors.

We also explained and handed out some of our resources, from the Making Money Easier guides to a booklet on Working with Communities, as well as the latest edition of Easy News and some very timely copies of our Every Vote Counts resources.

A “crucial” Lost in Transition presentation

Our director of communications and fundraising, Diane Lightfoot, and development coordinator for the North West, Amie Dobinson, teamed up to deliver a fantastic presentation entitled ‘Lost in Transition’, which was well received by a packed audience and described as “crucial” on social media by The Journal of Family Health.

Diane and Amie covered everything from explaining the impact of the Children and Families Act 2014, to providing real examples of how our transitions work has benefitted the people we support and eased them through a positive transition experience.

They also answered questions from the audience, and made themselves available for further discussion back at our stand after the presentation session.
