As most of our readers will know, United Response is proud to be working with Rachel Kelly, the author of “Black Rainbow”, which tells the story of how Rachel overcame serious depression with the help of poetry.

The book is powerful, harrowing and yet finally uplifting, and we believe it has the potential to provide comfort and hope to thousands of people in this country who suffer from depression.

To celebrate the book’s bestselling success we are launching a Twitter competition. All that you have to do to win one of 10 copies of the book is Retweet one of our competition Tweets, or write your own Tweet, but make sure you include the words Black Rainbow. The competition will run until Monday 14th, when we will pick 10 winners at random.

You can also get involved by taking part in our Postcards of Hope campaign. “Black Rainbow” shows how Rachel recovered from depression with the help of poetry. Now we are asking people to get creative and tell us what got them through difficult times. It might be poetry, the lines from a song, or an inspiring image – whatever it is, go to www.postcardsfromtheedges.org.uk and capture it on a postcard.
