The national disability charity, United Response, is asking members of the public to host a tea party to raise valuable funds for the charity.

The tea party event, called 4tea, is taking place throughout the month of June. Tea party organisers can choose any day they like during that month to organise their own 4tea event, whether it be with just a few friends and family or a much grander garden party event for the whole community.

This year’s 4tea events build on the success of last year’s 4tea, when over 120 fundraising tea parties were held around the country.

Money raised through the 4tea events will help support people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities to have greater control over their lives, access the community and seek work opportunities.

Tea party organisers will receive a 4tea pack filled with inspirational ideas, goodies and all the information they need to organise their own event. They will also have access to an online page where they can print invites and posters telling people about to their tea party, and can keep track of the donations they have received. For the first time this year, United Response is also introducing text donations, whereby people can raise funds simply by asking their guests to text TEA and their party code to 70660.

Diane Lightfoot, Director of Communications and Fundraising for United Response, said:

“What could be better than to invite your friends, family, and neighbours round for a cup of tea, and to know that you are raising funds for a worthwhile cause at the same time?

“Last year’s events ranged from a quick cup of tea with some friends through to garden parties and an Alice in Wonderland style tea party. It was all great fun and the money raised made a huge difference to the lives of the people we support. This year we hear that there is even a 4tea dogs’ garden party being organised.”
