On 30th July, disability charity United Response’s CEO, Tim Cooper, will get on his bike for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100.

United Response is a national charity, supporting people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs to live in the community. Tim has been the CEO for the charity since 2015.

The 56-year-old from Wiltshire is taking on his biggest challenge event to date to raise vital funds for the charity, fitting in several hours of training a week around a busy lifestyle.

Tim first started cycling 17 years ago and has previously taken on London to Brighton as well as off-road events.

The fifth Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 will set off from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and follow a spectacular 100-mile route on closed roads through London and Surrey, finishing at the Mall.

Commenting on taking on his latest challenge, Tim said:

“I’ve heard from other riders that it is good fun and it’s a great opportunity to promote the fantastic work that United Response does day in day out.

“I’ve been doing regular evening rides around Richmond Park and Surrey Hills, plus some longer day rides at the weekend around Wiltshire. I think the biggest challenge on the day will be trying not to think about my aches and pains!”

As the CEO for United Response, and with a wealth of experience supporting people with learning disabilities throughout his career, Tim knows the huge impact fundraising has on the lives of people supported by the charity.

“Fundraising enables us to make a difference to people’s lives that couldn’t be delivered with statutory funding,” he said. “Projects such as our award-winning accessible newspaper, Easy News, for example, rely on fundraised money and its things like this which enable the people we support to really live their lives to the fullest and be active members of their community.”

Tim is looking forward to the atmosphere on the day of the event, where United Response will be there to cheer him on.
