Local disability charity United Response is holding a 4tea on Sunday 14th June in a bid to raise funds for the people it supports.

Taking place at 31A Munster Road in Teddington between 1pm and 4pm, the free event will include stalls run by people with learning disabilities and mental health needs who are supported by the charity, and a range of activities.

The event hopes to give those who live at the local service the opportunity to make connections in their community as well as have a few friends round for a brew.

This year’s 4tea parties hope to build on the existing success of 4tea, which began on United Response’s 40th anniversary year as the flagship fundraising event. Back in 2013, over 120 fundraising tea parties were held around the country to mark the occasion, and the parties proved so popular that the charity is offering others the chance to organise their own.

The upcoming party on 14th June will a lucky dip, tea and coffee stalls run by people supported by the charity and will advertise the organisation’s Garden Gnomes project, as well as more. Money raised will be put towards future social events held by the charity in the area.

Funds will also go towards social enterprises in the area, including a local art group and Garden Gnomes, which offers a range of gardening services to organisations and the public within the local community, including libraries, day centres and supported living services throughout Richmond and Kingston.

Tea party organisers will receive a 4tea pack filled with information, advice on creating themes and plenty of goodies and recipes to get them started.

Vicky Greenland, Senior Support Worker for United Response, said:

“Tea parties are a great way to connect with friends and neighbours and have a chat over a cuppa while helping raise useful funds for our services, making a huge difference to the lives of people we support across the country.

“We hope our neighbours will come along on the day to gain a better understanding of the work that we do and support that we offer to people in the local area– and it’s a wonderful excuse to have a party so come along!”
