In Kent United Response has evolved over 28 years of sustained effort, working to support people with a range of needs including those individuals who are complex and require access to 24-hour support.

In each of our locations in Dover, Shepway, Hawkinge, Ashford and Maidstone, we are supplying community-based accommodation and support solutions that meet a range of individually tailored requirements.

The Community Network

In Cheriton, The Community Network is an open-fronted shop underneath our offices in Folkestone on the High Street. The space is now used as a community resource for coffee mornings, classes, toddlers' groups and other community activities. Different people from the local community can meet and interact with each other, which provides opportunities for isolated individuals to socialise.

The space is available to all members of the community to use, provided the activities are inclusive. The Network also provides informal support to the wider community. We work closely with other local community resources and help signpost people to relevant services within the neighbourhood.

The Community Network has set up The Donation Station, which aims to raise money for the Community Network, and teach employment skills to people we support.

Shepway Community Support

In Kent, Shepway Community Support Team provides a range of services for vulnerable people. Many of the people we support are involved in the local community, including putting on Art exhibitions ,musical happenings, volunteering and working at a charity shops. One of the people we support completed a 16.5 mile sponsored walk for United Response and raised £150. One support worker had this to say about the service:

'The people we support want to be in control of their own lives, we make sure that individuals are enabled to live the life they choose with full involvement of family and friends’
