National disability charity, United Response, has published the 30th issue of its award-winning accessible news magazine, Easy News – the last issue of the year.

This issue aims to make recent world news, including Zimbabwe’s new President, Catalonia’s independence referendum and the Harvey Weinstein scandal, easier to understand for people with a learning disability.

Using simple words and images, Easy News breaks down these complex stories into an ‘easy read’ format, so that people with learning disabilities can better understand and engage with the news.

Issue 30 also covers the more positive stories of the last two months, including the royal engagement and the success of Blue Planet 2.

Mark Ospedale, United Response’s Director of People and Communications, said:

“2017 has been an eventful year for news – from Brexit negotiations, to the snap General Election, and now a royal engagement. Easy News has enabled people with learning disabilities to stay informed throughout the year, so that our readership could get involved in relevant debates and make informed decisions on Election Day.”
