Get involved Our campaigns Our policy work Our campaigning needs robust policy and research to back it up. United Response is committed to improving the lives of individuals with learning disabilities, mental health or physical support needs, to allow them the opportunity to live their lives to the full. We want the experiences of people we support to be represented in policies and legislation so that they have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. Talking to decision makers The policy work we undertake represents the voice of people we support to government, decision makers and to bodies undertaking consultations on learning disability and related issues. Our policy and campaigns team works closely with politicians and decision makers to raise issues facing people with a learning disability, their carers and families. The team meets Ministers, Opposition spokespeople, and politicians from all political parties to talk about improving the lives of people we support. We influence debates on disability issues, give evidence to parliamentary committees, and work to improve legislation. Submitting evidence to consultations United Response also submits evidence to consultations seeking to learn about best practice and improving care for people we support. In our policy work we try to use the experiences of people we support, case studies and best practice to influence decision makers and get things changed at the highest level. We try to learn from people we support, their families and carers wherever we can as we believe their voice is central to our work.
