Sharing Our Stories is a powerful short film that brings together the voices, experiences and reflections of people with learning disabilities from across England.

Created by award winning filmmakers Edd Carr and Saul Pankhurst as part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded Our Life Stories project, the film explores themes including childhood, family, relationships, work, independence, hobbies and identity through personal stories and lived experience. Drawing on oral histories collected by interviewers with learning disabilities, it celebrates lives that are too often overlooked and highlights the importance of preserving these stories as part of our shared heritage.

Featuring project participants, archival images, artwork and exhibition content, the film offers a moving insight into the experiences, achievements and contributions of people with learning disabilities, while challenging stereotypes and encouraging audiences to see disability through the lens of history, humanity and belonging.

We hope the film inspires reflection, sparks conversation, and helps ensure that the voices of people with learning disabilities are heard, valued and remembered.
