Star Knights – Brendan’s debut graphic novel

York-based author and comic-book artist, Brendan Hulse-Storr, has been making the most of his recent grant from United Response’s Peoples’ Fund by publishing his first graphic novel “Genesis of the Star-Knights” together with a bold, bright and colourful merchandise range to accompany the book. This includes t-shirts, baseball caps, pin badges and coasters!
Brendan worked with the Media team at the United Response charity to hone his skills and turn his creative ideas into publishable works.
What’s the story?
“The Genesis of the Star Knights” follows the story of five teenagers as they are chosen to protect the Earth on a journey of galactic proportions. It’s told in a modern, comic-book format; Brendan’s creative story-telling and unique artistic style elevating the finished project to an exceptional standard.
Where you can get a copy
With the support of his Job Coach, Brendan has successfully applied to showcase his work in Fabrication (Independent shop and creative workspace) – a retailer in both York and Leeds city centres that sells products from local artists and creatives. As well as providing an opportunity to present and sell their work in store, artists can also spend time working on the shopfloor – gaining skills, experience and networking opportunities.
Brendan also has an online store on Etsy, meaning he can sell his work worldwide: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PineappleCoastStudio

The future is bright for Brendan
This is a fantastic opportunity, as Brendan takes the leap from being an up-and-coming artist with an idea, to an accomplished author who has turned that idea into something truly magical for others to enjoy and be a part of.
Brendan said: “The support of The Peoples’ Fund has helped to make the dream a reality.”
The People’s Fund is made possible thanks to the generous support of The Clothworkers Foundation.
