Community drivers

Would you like to join our team of drivers to get the people we support to the places that they enjoy the most?

Ensuring the people we support get to appointments, activities and other commitments in their day is vital. It enables them to connect with local people within their communities, enjoy the things they love the most and explore new and fun opportunities.

Responsibilities – what will I be doing?

The role will be to help the people we support to get to places such as: doctors’ appointments, going grocery shopping; going to daily activities that they have planned; or just a drive out.

Volunteers in this role may at times be expected to be able to work independently. However, most of the time, you would be accompanied by a member or two of staff, who will be there to support the person.

Skills and experience

We are looking for people who enjoy driving and are looking to do something to give back.

  • Full UK drivers licence is required
  • Access to your own vehicle is required
  • Ability to use/understand maps

Why volunteer?

Volunteering enables you to play an active role in your community and contribute to positive social change. Benefits of volunteering as a driver at United Response is that you are giving the people we support the ability to access local places that they love to visit or to access the places they need to go to with ease.

How many hours do I need to volunteer for?

We are looking for volunteers who could offer 5 – 10 hours per week on a flexible basis Hours will be agreed to suit both the volunteer and our service teams. Volunteers in this role will be expected to be able to work independently, with limited supervision, at times.

You will be required to undergo a DBS check and provide two references if successful with this volunteering role.
