Anyone we support, or your loved ones, can nominate a member of staff for the new United Response People’s Choice Award. This award is about recognising the difference that great support can make to your life, and celebrating the people who help make those things possible.

Celebrate great support

Good support is about much more than getting things done. It’s about relationships, opportunities and the everyday things that help people live the lives they choose.

We want to hear about staff and teams who:

  • Help you do the things that matter to you
  • Help you achieve your goals
  • Encourage you to try something new
  • Help you feel more confident
  • Make you laugh
  • Are there for you when things are difficult

Most importantly, we want to know the difference their support has made to you.

Award Categories

How do I nominate someone?

There are a few questions you need to answer but you don’t need to write everything down if that doesn’t work best for you.

You can tell us about your nomination in the way that works best for you.

You can nominate one person or a team of people.

You don’t need to choose an award category. Just tell us about the person or team and the difference their support has made. We’ll make sure the nomination goes into the category that fits best.

Need help making a nomination?

That’s ok. Someone you trust can help you to make your nomination in the way you choose.

The person helping you should help you communicate your own views and experiences. They shouldn’t speak for you or change what you want to say.

The person helping you with your nomination cannot be the person or team you are nominating. This is to keep the awards fair and independent.

If you’re not sure who can help, speak to your service manager or contact us and we’ll work with you to you find someone who can help.

Who decides the winners?

Your nomination will be carefully judged by a panel of people that includes people who are supported by United Response and family members. They bring their own experiences of support and their understanding of what can make a real difference to people’s lives.

The judges will read, watch and listen to all the nominations before they decide together who should receive an award.

Created with the People’s Forum

The People’s Choice Awards have been created with the United Response People’s Forum.

The People’s Forum helped shape the awards, including the categories and how people can make nominations.

People who draw on support will also help choose the winners.

That’s important because the people who experience support are the people who know what difference it can make in their everyday lives. OR a quote from Jason “We know good support because we live it every day. That means we are the best people to point out who is doing a great job.”
