Responding to today’s Autumn Statement Tim Cooper, United Response’s chief executive, said:

“The government should know from its own experiences that there is little point in forcing people into the wrong job as this will simply lead to a revolving door of staff.

“We know from our own background that when you invest in targeted and specialist support for employment it delivers long-lasting results, rather than using punitive punishments the government should focus on better access and help employers to adapt and support people with disabilities.

“Disability should not be framed as a lifestyle choice when there is a real risk of sanctions pushing people already dealing with a cost-of-living crisis further into poverty this winter.”
