    1. Andy Burnham is the new Prime Minister.

    2. On 21st July 2026 he chose who will be in the Cabinet.

    3. Most of the Cabinet is made up of a group of Labour MPs.

    4. Most Cabinet members are called Secretaries of State. They lead Government departments.

    5. They all make important decisions about how things work in the country.

    6. Each Cabinet member is in charge of a different important issue. These are the members of the new Cabinet and their jobs:

    7. John Healey is the Chancellor of the Exchequer. He is in charge of how the government spends its money. He is the MP for Rawmarsh and Conisbrough.

    8. Yvette Cooper is the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. She is in charge of health and social care. She is the MP for Pontefract, Castleford, and Knottingley.

    9. Wes Streeting is the Secretary of State for Defence. He is in charge of keeping the country safe and looking after the Armed Forces. He is the MP for Ilfield North.

    10. Lucy Powell is the Secretary of State for Education. She is in charge of how people are taught new things, like schools. She is the MP for Manchester Central.

    11. Pat McFadden is the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. He is in charge of how people have jobs and can retire. He is the MP for Wolverhampton South East.

    12. Ed Miliband is the Foreign Secretary. He is in charge of how the government works with other countries. He is the MP for Doncaster North.

    13. Shabana Mahmood is the Home Secretary. She is in charge of policing, immigration and keeping people safe. She is the MP for Birmingham Ladywood.

    14. Angela Raynor is the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. She is in charge of making sure enough homes are built and helping people find somewhere to live. She is the MP for Ashton Under Lyne.

    15. Jonathan Reynolds is the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade. He is in charge of helping businesses grow and making trade agreements with other countries. He is the MP for Stalybridge and Hyde.

    16. Lisa Nandy is the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. She is in charge of activities, arts, and media, like libraries, TV broadcasters and gambling. She is the MP for Wigan.

    17. Miatta Fahnbulleh is the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. She is in charge of how we get power into our homes, like solar power. She is the MP for Peckham.

    18. Alex Norris is the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice. He is in charge of how people are treated if they have or might have committed a crime. He is the MP for Nottingham North and Kimberley.

    19. Heidi Alexander is the Secretary of State for Transport. She is in charge of how people get to places, like public transport and roads. She is the MP for Swindon South.

    20. Angela Eagle is the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. She is in charge of looking after nature, farming, food and the environment. She is the MP for Wallasey.

    21. Chris Bryant is the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. He is in charge of how the Government works with Northern Ireland. He is the MP for Rhondda and Ogmore.

    22. Douglas Alexander is the Secretary of State for Scotland. He is in charge of how the Government works with Scotland. He is the MP for Lothian East.

    23. Stephen Kinnock is the Secretary of State for Wales. He is in charge of how the Government works with Wales. He is the MP for Aberafan Maesteg.

    24. Emma Reynolds is the Chief Secretary to the Treasury. She helps decide how the Government spends money. She is the MP for Wycombe.

    25. Bridget Phillipson is the Equalities Minister. She is in charge of making sure people are treated fairly and have the same opportunities. She is the MP for Houghton and Sunderland South.

    26. Hamish Falconer is the Minister for Intergovernmental Relations. He helps make sure the Governments in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland work well together. He is the MP for Lincoln.

    27. Kanishka Narayan is the Minister for Artificial Intelligence. He is in charge of how the Government and country uses AI. He is the MP for Vale of Glamorgan.

    28. Matthew Pennycook is the Housing Minister. He helps make sure enough homes are built and people can find somewhere to live. He is the MP for Greenwich and Woolwich.

    29. Anneliese Midgley is the Chief Whip. She is in charge of making sure making sure Government MPs vote with the Government. She is the MP for Knowsley.

    30. Louise Haigh is the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. She helps the Prime Minister organise how the Government works and make sure Government plans are carried out. She is the MP for Sheffield Heeley.

    31. Ellie Reeves is the Attorney General. She is in charge of making sure the Government are following the law. She is the MP for Lewisham West and East Dulwich.

    32. Alan Campbell is the Leader of the Commons. He helps make sure the House of Commons works well. He is the MP for Tynemouth.

    33. Baroness Smith of Basildon is the Leader of the Lords. She helps make sure the House of Lords works well. She is a member of the House of Lords, not an MP in the House of Commons.
