   Prime Minister announces plans for new social care service

2. 

   A new National Care Service is planned for England.

3. 

   The aim is to link social care more closely to the NHS.

4. 

   And to help people live independently for longer.

5. 

   Some of this would be paid for by changing the state pension triple lock but this would not cover all the cost.

   Personal care would be free for help with things like…

   Washing and bathing

   Getting dressed

   Eating

    Using the toilet

    Care homes would not become completely free. People would need to pay towards things like…

    The changes would be made gradually.

    A detailed plan for the new National Care Service is expected in summer 2027.
