Kent staff talked to Damian about supporting people to access their local community and the potential to do even more with greater funding.

We also discussed the need to pay staff a fair wage for the responsible roles they have.

This is something Damian feels passionate about and he has already championed the case for linking social care pay rates to NHS rates in Parliament.

Damian is a member of the Conservative Party. He has been the elected MP for Ashford since 1997 and was deputy prime minister for Theresa May in 2017.

This is not the first time a parliamentarian has visited one of our services to meet our staff and people we support.

Alex Norris, MPĀ for Nottingham North and Shadow Minister for Levelling Up, Housing, Communities and Local Government visited our Notts services in July 2022.

Plus back in September 2021, Anthony Mangall, MP for Totnes and South Devon visited our ROC Creative service.

And Derek Thomas, MP for St Ives, met with staff in Cornwall in November 2022 to discuss accessible voting, accessibility in the community and funding for social care.
